We've Landed: Caller Times edition!

Congratulations Corey Risper on landing a featured article in today's Caller Times' newspaper! The article. written by Mike Smith, discusses the journey up until this point. In it you will hear how Risper never aspired to be a fashion designer and how the first product released was a tote bag made of old maps. The article fast forwards to the present and the recent launch with Benjamin's Surf & Skate shop inside La Palmera mall.

Speaking of Benjamin's, the shirts were flying off of the shelves in the first two weeks. Risper recently met with Benjamin's where they not only wanted to order another round of Women's dolman tops, tanks, baseball tees, and v-necks but wanted to extend their selection to include Men's fashion as well!

Quick, somebody get this man some aviators because his future is so bright!! (heh, get it!) Check out the pictures below from the article. Click on either one of them to check it out!

Prepare for takeoff! The *Official* Corey Risper Blog (version 2.0)

Benjamin's Surf & Skate, La Palmera Mall
Corpus Christi, TX

Viola! There you have it, the display window of Benjamin's Surf & Skate featuring Corey Risper's Men's and Women's apparel line! After uncertain amounts of worries, frustrations, excitement, and anxiety, Corey's launch made its debut Monday morning after a weekend-long celebration including the official party Saturday night at Stereo Bar and Aria Sky Terrace & Lounge. By the way... A big thanks to everyone who made their way out that night and celebrated with Corey and his team.

Now, there are a few things that I should point out to you about the picture above because either a) you don't see them, b) you're unaware of their importance, or c) this is your first time looking at Corey Risper.
  1. The "Approach Plate" banner answers the question of "what's that on the shirt?". Before designing Men's and Women's fashion, Corey was an Air Traffic Controller and student pilot. While the traditional use of the approach plate is for navigational purposes, Corey saw that they offered something more and the rest is history!
  2. The tote bag (2nd from left) is actually one of the first pieces Corey created for his line. While they are currently unavailable for buying, there is hope that they might be introduced to the line in '13!
  3. Originally having 3 different styles (Men's/Women's Tee, Men's Ringer, and Women's Tank) with Texas' major cities (Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio) the line has now been expanded to include additional cities AND styles! At the debut with Benjamin's, Corey introduced three pieces to the Women's Collection: a dolman shirt, v-neck tee, and the Baseball 3/4 tee. (All pictured above on the right side of the display)
  4. Lastly, if you look closely on the display you will see "RISPER" spelt across the mannequins. Just a little fun fact
With the launch behind us and the craziness partially settling down, just a bit, it's on to the next few ideas (which I think you'll like...). I'll leave you with two things, (1) a reflection of Corey from yesterday, and (2) other pictures from the Benjamin's display.

Enjoy:)

"I finally met Ben of Benjamin's yesterday. He's a funny guy and loves my brand! While I was there I saw alot of my shirts were already sold after only 3 days! Ladies, hurry over to the mall and get yours before they're gone!! We are already planning follow up orders with some cool new styles and cities headed this way!" - Corey Risper via facebook

Launch Countdown: 5...4...3...2...1...

It's been a long journey for Corey Risper as he prepares to launch his clothing line into Benjamin's Surf & Skate shops this weekend. A journey that started back in 2009 for the former Air Traffic Controller with the spark of imagination to turn flight charts into fashion apparel.

His slogan, "What's Your Approach?" is great because with each shirt comes a different city. Starting off with Corpus Christi, Houston, Austin, and Dallas, Corey has begun expanding this concept to the next level. This weekend he and I will be sporting "Wingman" hats, the first prototype for the hat line as well as the catch phrase "Wingman", which is the first of several to be introduced throughout 2013 and 2014.

There's A LOT of excitement going on for Corey Risper. We're in the process of scheduling new photoshoots with the new tees and tanks, the Wingman hats, and pictures of the launch party! A new website is also in the works.

While the road to September 8, 2012 might not have been the easiest, Corey is thrilled to be opening a new door to this chapter and looks forward to the things to come!
